Asus has unveiled a laptop that has a 17.3-inch OLED touch screen with a resolution of 2560 x 1920 pixels.
Will 2022 be the year of laptops with foldable screens? Asus seems to think so, as it just introduced its first 17-inch model with an OLED screen at CES.
Once opened, the Zenbook 17 Fold OLED takes the form of a 2.5K touchscreen, or a massive 17.3-inch tablet with a 4:3 aspect ratio. When folded, you'll have two 12.5-inch Full HD displays with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. . Its design is very reminiscent of the Lenovo ThinkPad Fold X1. The bottom screen can act as a virtual keyboard, but Asus has also introduced a physical wireless Bluetooth keyboard, as shown in the image below.
Zenbook 17 Fold OLED takes advantage of Pantone certification and integrates Dolby Vision HDR and Dolby Audio technologies to deliver optimal picture and sound. The latter is provided by four Harman Kardon certified amplifiers.
To design the laptop, Asus teamed up with Intel. Thus, the Zenbook 17 Fold complies with the Intel Evo specifications as it features a 12th generation Core i7 U-Series processor, with an Intel Iris Xe GPU. It also contains two Thunderbolt 4 ports and a new Intel Visual Sensing Controller chip. According to Intel, this provides new security functions thanks to artificial intelligence, such as user presence detection. The PC has a 5-megapixel webcam, as well as a high-resolution infrared camera that works with Windows Hello.
Asus says the Zenbook 17 Fold OLED will be available in mid-2022, but it hasn't revealed a specific price or date.
