The original Apple Watch, Apple Watch Series 1, and Apple Watch Series 2 will not be compatible with watchOS 8, which means that owners of these three series of watches will not be able to experience the new watchOS on their smartwatches.

How to download watchOS 8
Eligible Apple Watch users can download watchOS 8 by going to General>> WatchOS 8. Software update on the Watch app on your iPhone. You can also download the update from your Apple Watch if it's connected to WiFi by going to Settings>>WiFi. General> upgrade software.
With the new watchOS 8, Apple Watch will get many new features including a new Portrait Watch face, a Memories group in a mosaic grid, an updated Home, and the ability to take photos through Messages and Mail. The latest OS also consists of a redesigned Breathe app.
