UAE and Israel expect a memorandum of understanding to enhance energy cooperation

Suhail bin Mohammed Faraj Faris Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, stressed that the UAE continues its joint work with various international players in the energy sector, especially clean ones, to develop its model as one of the most prominent countries that lead global efforts in the renewable energy sector.

He stressed that renewable energy is an essential pillar to support the sustainable environment.

This came during a meeting between Suhail Al Mazrouei and Karen Al Harra.

Suhail Al Mazrouei said: "The UAE and Israel states have made many ambitious achievements in various fields, especially energy, after more than a year has passed since the Brahimi agreement of peace between the two sides and aimed at promoting peace and stability in the Middle East region, in light of the specific understandings and partnerships that support their directionsFuture ".

He stressed that the Ibrahimi agreement contributed to creating a promising opportunity not only for our country, but also for the entire Middle East region.

He noted that the UAE’s vision is clear and is consistent with the principles and goals of the fifty, by continuing the hard work to implement the fifty projects launched by the UAE government through partnerships that are able to enhance the future of energy in line with the goals of the Emirates 2071 and the directions of the wise leadership, stressing that such notes and bilateral meetings are ableTo advance this vital sector for its role in sustainable development at the national and international levels.

He said: "Such partnerships contribute to crystallizing the shift towards clean, renewable energy, and supports the drafting of projects and initiatives supporting to achieve the Paris Climate Change Agreement, which the UAE considers one of the first countries to ratify it, and contributes to opening spacious prospects for growth and development within the efforts of the two countries in diversifying a mixtureEnergy, dependence on clean ones, and in building more partnerships and enhancing cooperation to take advantage of the opportunities related to the global leadership of the Emirates and Israel in various fields, especially related to innovation, technology and sustainability with the energy sector.

According to the memorandum of understanding signed by Suhail Al Mazrouei and Karen Al Harar in the presence of a number of officials from both sides, the two parties cooperate in exchanging information, knowledge and experiences, and holding high -level meetings to discuss issues related to energy storage, especially clean ones, and physical security security in infrastructure,And fossil energy;The electricity network, the smart network, hydrogen, water issues, ways to support energy strategies in the UAE and Israel, and to activate the memorandum of understanding concluded between the two sides.

According to the Emirates News Agency, the Memorandum of Understanding includes the commitment of the two parties to sustainable development in the implementation of energy, science and technology policies, taking into account changing economic, social and environmental considerations such as climate change, enhancing investment and trade in the field of energy, services and equipment related to energy, and ensuring the strategic importance of developing common curricula at the levelInternational to enhance market access opportunities, in addition to the sustainable development of energy resources.

It is noteworthy that the United Arab Emirates aims to diversify the future energy mix, and to raise the contribution of clean energy to the total energy mixture in the country to 50% by the year 2050, as it seeks to reduce the carbon footprint by implementing the energy strategy 2050 by 70%, and raising the efficiency of individual consumptionAnd the institutions by 40%.
