The Xiaomi Mi Band series still stands out among the best affordable fitness trackers in the market, and 6 versions of the sports band have been released so far, starting from 2014. Now, a new leak indicates that the latest model of it , Xiaomi Mi Band 7, it could be around the corner that Jable comes with many welcome features.
As XDA-Developers spotted, a new note has revealed some exciting details about the Mi Band 7, obtained from code in Huami's Zepp app and firmware files. Interestingly, this indicates that users may not have to put up with the Xiaomi Mi Fit app to use Mi Band 7.
Let's talk about gear. For starters, buyers can look forward to a larger, higher-resolution display than its predecessor. The Mi Band 6 has a 1.56-inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 152 x 486. However, the Mi Band 7 can come with a higher-quality 192 x 490 screen. It is worth noting that the leak did not reveal the physical measurements of the screen in terms of inches.
Away from the screen, the report hints at built-in GPS support for the first time, which will make the chances of Xiaomi's seventh band successful with runners high. Traditionally, the currently available versions of the bracelet feature GPS support on the connected device only. However, the built-in GPS would significantly reduce the battery life of the Mi Band 7. It is not yet clear if Xiaomi is willing to do so.
Speaking of battery, the latest band can offer a power saving mode that is supposed to disable sensors, notifications and other power-draining features, so as to increase endurance.
Notably, other leaked features hint at additional improvements in terms of the operating system. Mi Band 7 can reintroduce the Fitbit-like Smart Alarm feature, which wakes you up ahead of time if the sensor detects that you are in a light sleep state. This feature will also definitely require smart sleep tracking improvements. You can also gain support for screen stays on, new workout modes, a passcode feature, and additional watch faces.
Although this leak comes from a relatively reliable source, we caution against considering these leaked specifications as certain.
As for the bracelet's release date, we can guess based on the previous two models. The Mi Band 50 made its debut in China in June, while the Mi Band 6 was launched in March.
