Although many companies have already pulled out of the physical exhibition of CES 2022, most of them announced the unveiling of their CES-focused products and services almost during the event period. Now, Samsung has unveiled the C-Lab (Creative Lab) projects that will be shown during CES 2022. One of the highlights of Samsung's demo lab includes smart guitar and a collaborative platform for musicians to play music together.
The project, called ZamStar, includes the ZamString, a smart guitar with LED lights, and the ZamStar app, which provides a platform for musicians to showcase their skills and collaborate with each other. The company has already created a website dedicated to ZamStar, including an informational video about the project. You can check it out here.
Starting with the ZamStar app, it is basically a collaborative platform for musicians to come and play their music together. With ZamStar, users can record and share their shows and music tracks with the community of musicians. They can then collaborate with each other by stacking multiple music recordings on top of their recordings to create a collaborative melody.
It is basically, as Samsung describes, an online jamming platform where expert and novice musicians can perform, learn and create a variety of music tracks. Samsung asserts that ZamStar allows for "non-real-time collaboration" between musicians by stacking performances anytime, anywhere.
Coming to the ZamString, it's a smart Samsung-made guitar that comes with directing LED lights on the fretboard. Guitar can also connect to and receive music information from the ZamStar app to help beginner musicians learn to play the instrument easily.
LEDs on the guitar's fretboard act as a learning mechanism to help amateur guitarists learn and practice the art. Once users have learned the basics, they can use ZamString in conjunction with the ZamStar app to play along with other musical instruments using finger clues related to the selected music.
ZamStar can also set various sound effects to match a specific song and enhance the track. For example, you can play a tune with a clean patch during recording and add distortion correction to the melody later with ZamStar.
So, this was all about ZamStar and ZamString from Samsung's C Lab. The Korean giant will be showing project details during CES 2022. So, stay tuned for more updates.
