Al-Tijari launches the TEJARI PAY service in cooperation with MasterCard and MIPS

Amman / October 2020 - Jordan Commercial Bank, in cooperation with MasterCard and MEPS, the leading company in providing innovative electronic payment services in the Middle East, recently launched the TEJARI PAY service, which allows its customers who hold MasterCard cards of all kinds The ability to pay through their smart phones (Android), as the bank is considered one of the first banks in the Kingdom to launch this service, which is one of the latest and most advanced technological technologies in electronic payment to meet the needs of its customers in line with their practical and fast lifestyle.

The TEJARI PAY application allows all bank customers who hold MasterCard cards, such as direct debit, credit and prepaid cards, to define their cards on the bank's application and then pay the value of purchases easily, quickly and safely through contactless payment technology, by simply swiping the phone On point-of-sale devices at various shops, locally and internationally, without the need for the actual use of the card.

The TEJARI PAY application is characterized by ease of use and speed of execution of payment transactions, with the ability to save the same card on more than one phone, as well as identifying more than one card on the same application, in addition to providing maximum security and protection for bank customers, as the card data is saved in the application from Through the tokenization feature, which hides the actual 16-digit card number from the merchant and replaces it with a temporary random number known as a token to complete the purchase process, which provides additional protection for the bank's customers during electronic payment operations.

Commenting on this step, Salim Sawalha, Assistant General Manager of Retail Banking and Branches, said about this application: “Jordan Commercial Bank is keen to provide the highest levels of service to customers to carry out payment transactions using smart phones at any time and place and with the highest standards of security. Enhancing the technical development of cardholders is our motive for launching this service.”

In this context, Ramzi Al-Amaari, Director of Lebanon and the Arab Levant at MasterCard, said: We are pleased to cooperate with Jordan Commercial Bank to launch the mobile payment service in the Kingdom. In light of the continued spread of the Corona virus, preserving the health and safety of citizens comes in the first place, and here the importance of the contactless payment technology provided by MasterCard is evident, which enables citizens to complete all their financial transactions in an easy, fast and safe way, in line with the recommendations of social distancing. And if we look at the results of the first quarter of 2020, we find that contactless payments increased by 11% in Jordan, which confirms citizens’ confidence in this technology and their increased demand for using it due to the peace of mind it gives them while shopping.”
