The Ministry of National Education, Vocational Training, Higher Education and Scientific Research stressed, in a communiqué it issued last Thursday on the occasion of passing the baccalaureate exams, which will take place on June 11, 12, 13 and 14, the implementation of Law No. In order to confront the increasing tide of fraud cases, and to educate male and female candidates of its disastrous consequences.
In the same context, every candidate for the baccalaureate exams, whether a teacher or a freelancer, was required to make a declaration and a commitment attesting to the validity of his signature, according to which he acknowledges his knowledge of the laws and decisions related to cheating, and the educational and restraining penalties resulting from his practice.
With regard to the penalties awaiting perpetrators of cheating in school exams, they are determined by Law No. 02.13 issued on its implementation by the Honorable Dahir No. 1.16.126 of August 25, 2016, with imprisonment from one month to one year and a fine ranging between 5,000 and 10,000 dirhams, or one of the two penalties in the case of using documents Forged in order not to pass the exam or to replace the candidate concerned with passing the exam with something else.
The penalties also stipulate imprisonment from three months to two years and a fine from 1,000 to 20,000 dirhams, or one of these two penalties, in the event that exam topics are leaked to others before taking the exam or help in answering them, and a fine from 2,000 to 5,000 dirhams in the case of exchanging information in writing or Orally or by any other means between male and female candidates, the possession or use of unauthorized machines, documents and manuscripts, or the use of electronic means of any form or type, whether they are operated or not, within the examination space.
It is noteworthy that the phenomenon of cheating in exams has increased, in recent years, in an alarming manner, to the extent that it has become considered one of the most serious problems facing the national educational system, which harms the credibility of school certificates and violates the principle of integrity and equal opportunities between male and female learners.
