Dubai, February 28 / WAM / His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al-Tayer, Managing Director, CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, announced that the authority has completed the implementation of 100% of the short-term goals of its strategy for the smart network 2014-2035.
Between 2015 and 2020, the authority completed the replacement of all electricity and water meters with smart meters, as more than two million meters were installed automatically and providing customers information about their consumption patterns to enable them to manage their electricity and water consumption effectively.
Between 2015 and 2017, the authority finished automating the transportation network linked to the transfer stations of 400 kW and 132 km by 100%, and in 2017 it finished the composition of the multi -application communication system, depending on the radio technology / RF MESH / which covers various parts of the Emirate of Dubai.It is currently connected to more than 4,200 sub -distribution stations in Dubai, which supports smart network applications such as electricity and smart water meters and the automation of the distribution network.
Al -Tayer said that one of the most important factors for smart cities is the continuity and availability of integrated and connected services around the clock, which can be achieved through the smart network. In the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, as a leading and innovative global institution, we are working to provide an advanced infrastructure for managing facilities and services through smart and interconnected systems that depend on the latest replacement technologies and fourth industrial revolution technologies, including artificial intelligence, blockchain technology, energy storage, Internet of things and others.
